How to setup Android for Eclipse IDE

Android is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications.You are required to have Windows XP or later, or Mac OS X 10.5.8 or a later version to start Android application development process. Then, The Installation Process takes some time at first ● Setup Java Development Kit (JDK)
● Install the Eclipse
● Install the Android SDK
● Intall the ADT plugin for eclipse
● Configure the ADT plugin
● Create the AVD
● Testing
Setup Java Development Kit (JDK)
You can download the JDK and install it, which is pretty easy .TO creating Any android application, JDK must be installed .

Install the Eclipse

For developing the android application using eclipse IDE, you need to install the Eclipse. you can install the latest version of Eclipsefrom this location . After successful installation, it should display a window

Install the Android SDK

After successfully install the Android SDK ,configure it.
Just de-select the Documentation for Android SDK and Samples for SDK packages if you want to reduce the installation size and time.
Click on Install 7 packages to continue with the installation.It will take some time to install . Once it is done, you can close the SDK manager.

Intall the ADT plugin for eclipse

Now I will tell you how to install the Android Development Tool plugin for Eclipse. To do this,
- click on Help > Software Updates > Install New Software.
- click on the Add button and add as the location .
- When you press OK, Eclipse will start to search for the required plug-in and finally it will list the found plug-ins.
- select the all checkbox and click next ,You will see, a list of tools to be downloaded here, click next and finish

Configuring the ADT plugin

After the installing ADT plugin,now tell the eclipse IDE for your android SDK location.
- Select the Window menu > preferences
- Now select the android from the left panel. Here you may see a dialog box asking if you want to send the statistics to the google. Click proceed.
- Click on the browse button and locate your SDK directory e.g. my SDK location is C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk .
- Click the apply button then OK.

Create the AVD (Android Virtual Device)

The last step is to create Android Virtual Device, which you will use to test your Android applications.To do this..
- Open Eclipse
- Launch Android AVD Manager by Window > AVD Manager and click on New .
- Now a dialog appears, write the AVD name e.g. My Testing Device . Now choose the target android version e.g. android 4.2
- Click create AVD it will create a successful Android Virtual Device


Create the New Android project and Test .For creating the new android project: Open Eclipse
1) Select File > New > Project
2) Select the android project and click next
3) Fill the Details in this dialog box and set your project Name e.g - My First Android Project & give any Package Name Like e.g - Com.example.firstproject click finish.
4) Now an android project have been created. You can explore the android project.and run them
